#Lets Walk Again

We’d like to introduce you to something truly unique.

Some challenges test physical endurance. Others challenge the mind. But the greatest ones? They challenge the heart.

This is De Warme Kerstmars - a winter expedition like no other. More than 100 kilometers, within 24 hours, on the coldest and darkest days of the year.

What started in 2022 as a small initiative between friends has grown into something much bigger.

2022: €2,102 raised.

2023: €11,180 raised.

2024: €32,162.40 raised.

2025: 104 km on December 19, 2025 - and a vision to push even further

But this isn’t just about walking. It’s about every step we take for those who can’t.

Some challenges are chosen. Others are forced upon us.

Imagine waking up one day to find that the simplest action - standing up, taking a step, moving freely - is no longer possible. Imagine hearing the words: “You will never walk again.”

This is the reality for thousands of people who experience spinal cord injuries, strokes, and other life-altering conditions. And in Belgium, once traditional rehabilitation ends, so do most options for recovery.

But what if it didn’t have to end there? This is where To Walk Again begins.

TO WALK AGAIN – A REVOLUTION IN REHABILITATION
Soon after his life-changing accident during a 2002 Ironman training session in Lanzarote, world-class

triathlete Marc Herremans realized that while his body had changed, his spirit had not. Instead of accepting limits, he redefined them.

In 2006, despite complete paraplegia from the chest down, he became Ironman World Champion. But even more importantly, he became a symbol of resilience, hope, and action.

From this spirit, To Walk Again was born.
An initiative that combines high-tech rehabilitation, adventure sports, and movement therapy, ensuring that

those with physical disabilities are given the opportunity, tools, and support to regain their independence. | A SYSTEM THAT FAILS THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST |

The reality is painful: Belgium does not recognize high-tech rehabilitation as part of its medical system. Despite the World Health Organization’s call to action (Rehabilitation 2030), which highlights that the future of

rehabilitation must be high-tech, Belgium has not yet integrated this into its healthcare policies. As a result:

● The government provides no structural financial support for advanced rehabilitation.

● Traditional rehabilitation centers have funding caps, leaving thousands with no options once their

treatment period ends.

● To Walk Again steps in where others stop.

But this comes at a cost:
THE FINANCIAL BURDEN OF MOVEMENT

A single step robot costs €160,000 and must be replaced every two years.
Each walking session costs €150, but government reimbursement covers just €25. The remaining €125 per session must come from donations and sponsorships.

This financial barrier means that many who need rehabilitation are left waiting—some indefinitely.

THE IMPACT OF MOVEMENT
But for those who do have access, the benefits are life-changing:

Mentally: Restoring eye contact, rebuilding self-confidence, proving that progress is still possible.

Physically: Reducing osteoporosis, improving circulation, preventing muscle spasms, enhancing nerve function.

Emotionally: Giving people the chance to stand, move, and dream again.

At the REVAlution Center, over 6.5 million steps have been taken—each one a victory against the odds.

Patients report that just one hour of walking can provide 48 hours of physical relief.

And yet, despite these undeniable results, thousands remain on a waiting list—waiting for funding, waiting for a chance, waiting to move again.

WHY WE WALK – AND WHY WE NEED YOU
